Joey and Scout - Activity Book on the Loss of a Pet
Children will relate to Joey in this beautifully illustrated story of a boy who loses his good friend and canine companion. Joey examines his feelings and the reader is invited to do the same. The narration explores several possibilities and leaves the reader to his or her own conclusion concerning the reasons for the disappearance. Discussion questions on each page invite the reader to share his or her own experiences in the loss of a pet. Sentence completion and art exercises help children express themselves. A parent guide in the appendix presents suggestions for providing positive emotional support when a pet is lost or dies.
